Theatre has a long and distinguished history at the University of Michigan. Our strengths lie in a careful blend of professional and academic work and training. Some of our distinguished alumni include James Earl Jones, Arthur Miller, Christine Lahti, Gilda Radner, and David Paymer. U-M theatre students benefit from the diversity and sophistication offered by a large first-class institution, while enjoying the intimate atmosphere of the Department of Theatre & Drama. We have a low student-to-faculty ratio and faculty members are friendly and accessible.
