Studying foreign languages and cultures is fundamental to a well-rounded liberal arts education. It opens the mind and allows you to understand and dialogue with different communities around the world. Our program in French & Francophone Studies is thus designed to prepare students who will live and work in an increasingly globalized world. French & Francophone courses foster analytical and critical thinking, excellence in communication, and an ability to engage other cultures -- abilities in high demand in the workplace. By supporting interdisciplinary research, double majors, independent studies, and study abroad, we encourage students to pursue their interests and career goals in whatever field they choose. In the process, we give them the linguistic skills and the cultural proficiency necessary to do so in French.
