Why Study Statistics? Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing and interpreting data, especially in the analysis of population characteristics from sample observations. Or, as noted economist and statistician W. A. Why Study Statistics at Fisher? As a statistics student at St. John Fisher College, you will: Apply mathematical and statistical methods to solve problems and make decisions Acquire communication skills to allow you to effectively convey the results of statistical analysis to organization laypeople Gain hands-on experience with statistical software applications that are used in business and industry The statistics major at St. John Fisher College includes courses on mathematical statistics, probability, and statistical methods used in the social and behavioral sciences and professions.
