The Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science curriculum provides students with a disciplined understanding of how scientists think about and understand human behavior. In today's world, discerning how people think and act on the job is critical to an organization's success. Learning both the theory and ramifications of human behavior is vital to solving real-world problems. Students will learn to: Demonstrate familiarity with the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and historical trends in behavioral science Understand and apply basic research methods in behavioral science, including research design, data analysis and interpretation Respect and use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and, when possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes Understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social and organizational issues Weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically and reflect other values that are the underpinnings of behavioral science as a discipline Demonstrate information competence and the ability to use computers and other technology for many purposes Communicate effectively in a variety of formats Recognize, understand, and respect the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity Develop insight into their own and others' behavior and mental processes and apply effective strategies for self‐management and self‐improvement This program is structured around the American Psychological Association's proposed learning goals and outcomes. Students must be able to demonstrate mastery of knowledge and methods in experimental behavioral science, as well as critical thinking skills, ethics and values, information and technological literacy, communication skills and personal development.
