专业描述

The Apparel Merchandising program at Baylor University focuses on the professional aspect of the fashion industry. Students are schooled in retailing, manufacturing, retail buying and promotion. Available courses include: Apparel in Today's Society Fashion Illustration Visual Merchandising and Promotion Fashion Forecasting Costume History and Design Students are required to complete a summer internship for credit as part of their degree plan. Internships are available all over the United States as well as Europe. Apparel Merchandising majors have interned in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Dallas and London. Graduates from the program find jobs in buying, visual display management, product development and styling. Some alumni have gone on to work in New York City with labels such as Betsey Johnson and Mint. Mint is a successful fashion line created by Baylor fashion design major, Jodi Arnold. Fashion Merchandising students get to apply the concepts learned in the Visual Merchandising course by working with Fashion Design students to plan all aspects of the departmental fashion show each spring. Fashion Merchandising students are responsible for the public relations, ticket sales, commentary, programs, and training of models while Fashion Design students provide the garments that are shown. Apparel Merchandising students have the opportunity to live at the Fine Arts Living-Learning Center in North Village, along with other Fine Arts students. Living-Learning Centers are residence halls designed for students of common academic or extracurricular interests.
