The Anthropology program is a holistic study that examines the entirety of the human condition including biology, society, culture and language. Students are educated in these four categories through classroom learning, seminars and hands-on field and laboratory research opportunities. Available courses include: Death, Injury and Physical Remains Ethnographic Methods The Human Fossil Record Culture, Personality and Identity Archaeology of the East Mediterranean The Anthropology Department also requires a Field School course for any student majoring in Anthropology. These Field School courses consist of small group research projects to collect and analyze data and are offered in Guatemala, Appalachia, Belize and Waco. The Anthropology major is offered as a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Both degrees prepare students to enter graduate study with sufficient training in the basic areas of anthropology. The BS degree emphasizes biological and behavioral sciences while the BA degree focuses on behavioral and cultural studies. The Anthropology Department offers two areas of study: Cultural Anthropology and Forensic Anthropology. Graduates of the Anthropology program most often continue their studies and research through graduate school. Others enter the workforce as museum curators, employees of cultural organizations or employees of various government agencies
