Majoring in Apparel Design & Product Development includes learning the art of design as well as the discipline of specific apparel construction. Students learn a variety of skills including design, trend tracking, apparel production operations and textile performance. Available courses include: Fashion Illustration Costume History and Design Textiles Introduction to Fashion Industry Apparel Design As part of the degree plan, students are required to complete an internship for 3 hours of credit. Baylor provides connections in cities in both the United States and Europe. Past students have interned in New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Dallas and other locations. Summer Study Tours, although not required, are also available for students wishing to receive course credit through a short travel period. Each summer the study tour alternates between a European and a North American tour. Our Apparel Design alumni find positions as fashion designers, wholesale buyers and textile designers among other roles in the fashion world. Fashion Merchandising students get to apply the concepts learned in the Visual Merchandising course by working with Fashion Design students to plan all aspects of the departmental fashion show each spring. Fashion Merchandising students are responsible for the public relations, ticket sales, commentary, programs, and training of models while Fashion Design students provide the garments that are shown
