Students, researchers, and professors from the physics department have enjoyed taking science out of the lab and into the community. By bringing hands-on activities and cutting edge science to the general public, particularly K-12 classrooms, we hope to inspire the next generation of scientists and citizens. A Rich Academic History The early members of the Duke Physics department still have a large impact on our lives in the department today. Biographies of some past members of the department can be found here in this directory of Distinguished Faculty. A detailed history of the Duke Department of Physics from 1924 until 2005 is presented. Also a list of all the Alumni who obtained Masters and Doctors degrees since the beginning of graduate studies in Physics at Duke is available.
