The study of chemistry is appropriate for a wide variety of careers including, medicine, law, physical and social sciences, engineering, and public policy. The chemistry department at Tufts provides both basic and advanced chemistry education with all the benefits of a major research university but with the environment of a small liberal arts college. We offer a variety of courses, newly expanded and improved facilities, an active teaching and research faculty, and a favorable faculty to student ratio. Students who participate in research receive a great deal of personal attention from their faculty adviser, and have excellent opportunities for undertaking senior projects and honors theses. They may choose from a broad range of cutting edge research projects, some of which are nationally and internationally known. The Tufts faculty are involved in all the traditional areas of chemical research, as well as many new and exciting interdisciplinary endeavors.
