The Department of Psychology is committed to the teacher-scholar model. Our faculty members are passionate about teaching and are experts in their area of teaching specialty. In addition to majoring in psychology, students also have the option of pursuing a major in child development or in neuroscience, and a minor in child development or leadership. We also offer Ph.D. and MS degrees in experimental psychology, and a MS degree in developmental trauma. Our department emphasizes a scientific approach to psychology. All of our tenure-track faculty members maintain active research labs with both undergraduate and graduate research assistants. Our faculty is active in several research areas including: cognition, learning, developmental, social, physiological, and quantitative psychology. Please see the web pages of individual faculty members for more information about their research. Our research labs are an important component of our teaching philosophy, since students are able to actively apply principles they learn in the classroom and enrich their teaching skills with scientific principles learned through direct involvement in research. See our latest publications by clicking on the image. Faculty members in our department also engage in advising and mentoring activities. We have an open-door policy that welcomes students to ask questions ranging from choosing classes to preparing for graduate school and inquiring about scientific issues in psychology. If you are a prospective student, a current undergraduate or graduate student, or alumni, this site will direct you to more information about our department and resources to help you in your academic quest. Welcome to the Department of Psychology!
