Griskevicius has extensive background in psychology and studies social influence, green marketing, and the evolutionary roots of modern behavior. He is co-author of The Rational Animal – a book about how our ancestral past shapes everyday decisions. Griskevicius has received numerous awards for his teaching, research, and service, including named one of the "World's Top 40 Professors Under 40" by Poets & Quants, Outstanding Teacher Award at the Carlson School, Early Career Awards for Distinguished Scientific Contributions from the Association for Consumer Research, the Society for Consumer Psychology, the Human Behavior & Evolution Society, and the Society of Personality and Social Psychology, Best Article Award from the Journal of Consumer Research, and named "Young Scholar" by the Marketing Science Institute. He has received multiple major grants from the National Science Foundation and his work is regularly featured on the Discovery Channel, the Economist, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC News, and TIME magazine.
