Romain graduated from the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense in 2010 with a B.A. in Philosophy and an M.A. in Anglo-American Studies. In 2012, he earned an M.A. in French Studies from the University of Pennsylvania where he is currently a 4th-year graduate student. Additionally, Romain was a Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Irvine (2008-2009), and a Lecturer at the University of Oxford (2010-2011), where he taught a wide range of courses, including prose translation. He is currently the Editorial Assistant to French Forum, an academic journal of French and Francophone film and literature. His research interests include Francophone literature and visual arts (with an emphasis on the Caribbean), postcolonial theory, disability studies, and representations of métissage, especially chabinité. His dissertation examines the metonymic status of the face in colonial and postcolonial iconographies of the body.
