Jun Zou is an associate professor in the School of Interior Design and has been teaching at LSU since 2004. She received a BS and a Master of Architecture from Hunan University in China and a Master of Architecture in design and technology stream from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. With a mixed background from Eastern and Western education systems, as well as extended teaching experience in both, she has always been interested in researching how cultural, social, and technological aspects affect interior/architecture design practice and how they interact with the design education. She has worked in 3-D animation and graphic design and practiced as an intern architect at an architecture firm in Baton Rouge. Zou’s research interests are in Eastern and Western architectural thinking, their aesthetics, technologies, and the inherited ecological philosophies; regional vernacular dwellings and the relationship with sustainable design; digital technologies in architectural/interior design and practice; and interior lighting simulation and technologies. She has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences and published papers in peer-reviewed academic journals. She has been a recipient of a faculty research summer stipend, a faculty research grant, a service learning faculty scholar award, and has held the McCoy Professorship.
