Dr. Wendy Whiting Blome’s research interests are in understanding the organizational contexts of social service systems, particularly child welfare services; workforce recruitment and retention; inter and intra system coordination and collaboration; the application of administrative theories and perspectives to public and private service settings, and the translation of research findings to direct service organizations. Formerly she was Director of the National Center for Research and Data at the Child Welfare League of America in Washington, D.C. In that role she administered four units responsible for field research, moving research to practice, data management, and research and data consultation. Dr. Blome worked directly with agencies to translate research findings into agency practice, to develop and support change strategies within agencies, and to conduct program evaluations of child welfare programs. Dr. Blome, LICSW, Ph.D., joined NCSSS in 2004 as an Associate Professor. She has more than 30 years experience in child welfare and social services as a direct service practitioner, supervisor, and administrator. She has written numerous curricula to prepare workers and supervisors, has directed multi-site research projects, and has served on international, national, and local Boards of Directors and task forces. Her publications cover a range of programmatic and research venues.
