Dr. Arena’s research in corporate finance is widely published in in journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Corporate Finance, and the Journal of Banking and Finance, among others. His current research interests include corporate debt, international corporate finance, corporate governance, and litigation risk. Dr. Arena joined Marquette University in 2006 as an Assistant Professor in the Finance Department. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Torino in Italy, his M.B.A. from Iowa State University, and his Ph.D. in Finance from University of Missouri. Professor Arena has previously worked for Procter & Gamble and as an environmental consultant. During his M.B.A. studies, Matteo worked at Ames Laboratory, Iowa State University to develop a method that is currently used by NASA astronauts to analyze drinking water on the International Space Station.
