Dr. Megan Andrew is a social demographer primarily interested in the intergenerational and social psychological sources of (young) adults’ educational and health attainments. Her research draws on literatures in demography, sociology, economics, psychology, and cognitive science and employs a wide range of econometric models, including matching, fixed-effects, structural equation, and event history models. She is particularly interested in understanding how social influence in the family, schools, and neighborhoods shape education and health inequalities. Her research has been published in Social Forces, Social Science Research, and the American Journal of Public Health. Her research has been funded by the Spencer Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the University of Michigan’s Center for Integrative Approaches to Health Disparities, and Stanford University’s Center on Poverty and Inequality. Dr. Andrew is currently researching status dependence, or scarring, in the educational career, the formation of educational dynasties, and peer influence in adolescent decision-making.
2011- University of Notre Dame Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology
