Leandra Celaya, MSc, is a faculty member in the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions. Her current responsibilities include managing operations for the Executive Doctoral Program in Administration-Health Services and the Department’s growing global educational partnerships. She also oversees program operations, planning logistics, writing and negotiating contracts, and coordinating with in-country contacts to execute programs such as Executive Master’s and Executive Doctoral international health system visits and the Executive Master of Science in Health Administration at King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Celaya's responsibilities also include developing international relationships and projects for the Department of Health Services Administration and organizing and executing alumni international travel opportunities. She is involved in many other university activities, including the UAB Fulbright Committee, the Sparkman Global Scholars Program and the UAB Global Citizenship Committee where she represents the School of Health Professions. She has a publication in Cross Cultural Management: An International Journal, in a topic that is relevant to her interest in cross-cultural communication: “Pre-Departure Cultural Training: US Managers in Mexico.” Celaya also served as the co-editor of the special issue on management of culture and cultural change in healthcare organizations of the European Journal of Cross-Cultural Competence and Management.
