Xiaocheng Jiang will start as an assistant professor of biomedical engineering in September 2015. Prior to joining Tufts, he was an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was working with Prof. Mehmet Toner on microfluidic isolation and characterization of circulating tumor cells for early cancer diagnostics. He received his PhD in Physical Chemistry (2011) from Harvard University under Prof. Charles Lieber, with focus on the design and development of nanoscale materials and electronic devices for biomolecular detection, electrophysiological recording and bioenergy conversion. His research concentrates broadly at the interface of materials science and biomedical application, with specific interests in nanobiotechnology, bioelectronics, and microfluidics.
