R. Charles Dershimer is an assistant clinical professor in Educational Studies. He teaches methods, literacy, and records of practice courses in undergraduate teacher education and the secondary MAC program for the science and mathematics cohort. His interests include mentoring and assessing teacher learning in clinical fieldwork and professional development settings, using video records of practice to support teachers with reflecting on the use of high-leverage practices, and integrating engineering design knowledge and practices into secondary math and science curricula. Prior to his university work, he implemented project based learning curricula while teaching secondary science and participated in the startup of a public charter school in Wayne County, Michigan. He is currently the project manager for the University of Michigan Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Fellowship Program and he serves as the Director of Higher Education for the Michigan Science Teacher’s Association Board of Directors.
