Doris DeLoach is Professor of Oboe and Chair of the Instrumental Studies Division at Baylor University. She earned degrees at the George Peabody College for Teachers (MME) and Florida State University (BM and DMA). Her primary teachers include Nancy Fowler and Ray Still, and she worked extensively with John Mack and John deLancie. Before being appointed to Baylor’s faculty in 1972, she taught instrumental music for one year in Montgomery County, Maryland, public schools and played English horn for three seasons with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. She also played with the Chattanooga and Atlanta Symphonies and soloed with the American Wind Symphony. She performs with the Waco Symphony and is an active chamber musician. Dr. DeLoach was named Baylor’s 1990-91 Outstanding Creative Artist and in 2001 received Florida State University’s Award for Distinguished Achievement in Teaching and Performance. She has presented master classes and performed in the United States as well as in Austria, Germany, France, England, the Netherlands, Panama, Costa Rica, and China. Her students are successful teachers and performers throughout the United States.
