Sarah (Sally) Barbour received a Ph.D. in French literature from Cornell University and is Professor of Romance Languages. Her research and teaching interests include French and Francophone (West Africa and the Caribbean) modern and contemporary narrative in prose and film, especially in works by women; Translation Studies; Diaspora Studies. She enjoys teaching at all levels of the curriculum in the Department in French and Francophone language and culture, as well as African and Caribbean literature in translation in the Humanities program. An active member of the Women’s and Gender Studies program, where she currently serves as Core Faculty, she has also taught and co-taught Introduction to WGS and special topics courses on Women, War, and Peace, and on Global Women’s Voices and Choices in Prose and Cinema.
