More than 14,000 students attend courses in the arts, science and technology, business, education, health and social sciences on two campuses close to Northampton town centre. The university has seen a substantial investment in campus facilities in the past few years, including a refurbished library at Park campus. Social enterprise is at the heart of the student community at Northampton, and all students have the opportunity, as part of their degree course, to work in a social enterprise. The university was the first higher education institution in the UK to achieve Changemaker Campus status from Ashoka U, the world's leading network of social entrepreneurs. The student union provides a variety of entertainment events at its two locations. Northampton itself is a big market town with some attractive green spaces and architecture. The University is currently building a brand new, £330 million, state-of-the-art campus closer to the centre of the town. The University will be moving to the new location in September 2018. Accommodation Prices range from £61.50-£133 a week. These prices are inclusive of bills, a cleaning service and basic insurance cover. Facilities Park campus has a nightclub and Avenue campus has a student union bar, as well as dance and drama studios, and computer-aided design suites. There is 24-hour access to IT resources. Transport Northampton town centre is close by and easily accessible. Bus transport is provided for students between campuses and across the town. Northampton is one hour by train to Birmingham and London, and is accessible via three junctions on the M1.
