Students prepare to meet the State of Illinois teacher certification requirements. This certification allows them to teach all areas of family and consumer sciences at the junior and senior high school levels (grades 6-12) in a public school setting. Our Program All family and consumer science majors receive: Liberal arts education through the general education program Instruction in Family and Consumer Sciences subject matter Instruction in teaching techniques, lesson planning, assessment, and technology Practice in teaching, leadership development, and the use of community resources Internal Transfer Information If you are currently an Illinois State University student and interested in transferring to the FCS Teacher Education program, log into My Illinois State, click on the "Apply to My Program" link
