High academic and performance standards are expected of all music students. We are proud to be accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Accreditation assures quality and promotes excellence and continuous improvement. Our music therapy program features a six-month internship at a site approved by the American Music Therapy Association. AMTA is the profession's mechanism to help establish high quality therapist preparation. Illinois State University offers thirty-seven teacher education programs, including Music Education, and is accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) - the profession's mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation.
