Welcome to the Physics Department at the University of Chicago. This website is designed to do several things: To provide information to visitors and prospective students on the research we do, our undergraduate and graduate academic programs, our news and history, as well as how to find us. To provide information to our current undergraduate and graduate students on courses, research seminars, and other academic events. To give easy access to information our own faculty and staff need as they perform their duties. The University of Chicago prides itself on cross-disciplinary research. To promote interaction between disciplines, physics research is carried out in several multi-disciplinary institutes and centers: the Enrico Fermi Institute, the James Franck Institute, the Institute for Biophysical Dynamics, the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, the Computation Institute, and the new Kadanoff Center for Theoretical Physics.
