The Philosophy Department at UB has a faculty with expertise across broad areas of the discipline. We have a large PhD program, and we also offer an MA with several specialized concentration options. Undergraduates may pursue either a major or a minor, and joint or double majors with other disciplines are also encouraged. The Department has cross-disciplinary ties with other units of the University, including the Law School, the Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy, the Cognitive Sciences Center, the Confucius Institute, the Humanities Institute, and the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. The Department also hosts the National Center for Ontological Research.
