Peter Quella holds a PhD in African Languages and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has lived and worked for eight years in Lesotho and South Africa in a variety of positions, including consultant to the UNFPA and Liatla Productions. He traveled widely across the continent working in special acquisitions for Clarke’s Bookshop of Cape Town. While at Wisconsin he worked as African Studies publications assistant editor and organized the 2006 African Literature Association annual meetings. His interests range from the study of Sesotho oral traditions to popular cultures and his disciplinary training included courses in anthropology, folklore and literary studies. He teaches ID 116 Africa Today, a broad introduction the African continent through its expressive cultures, and is working on a book detailing the history of tale-making in Lesotho.
