Roy Grundmann specializes in the history and theory of avant-garde film and video; film and media theory; gender and sex representation; queer studies; selected topics in American and European cinema since World War II; and developing world cinema and theory. His is contributing editor of Cineaste magazine.Before coming to the United States, Roy Grundmann studied English and American literature and film at the University of Muenster, Germany, Exeter University, England, and the University of Frankfurt, Germany. He has taught film at New York University and at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York. For the past ten years, Dr. Grundmann served as one of the editors of Cineaste magazine, for which he is now a contributing editor. His dissertation focuses on the films of Andy Warhol.
