The Sociology Program at Kansas State University has seventeen faculty members whose research spans the globe. Our work reflects methodological, theoretical, and substantive breadth. Students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels choose from a wide range of courses within the faculty’s areas of expertise. These include, but are not limited to, criminology, culture, demography, development, emotions, environment, gender, global food systems, intersectionality, migration, race, rural development, work and labor. We have a dynamic program located within a rapidly growing community in Manhattan. Sociology students enjoy high-quality program and campus life: The results of student surveys published in the past year’s Princeton Review earn Kansas State University the rank of Number 3 (among 379 schools) for best quality of life; Number 5 for great campus and community relations; and Number 7 for happiest students. Manhattan, known colloquially as “The Little Apple,” regularly ranks highly in Forbes and other, similar surveys on community vitality.
