Welcome! The Department of Psychology offers both the largest undergraduate program and the largest doctoral program at the University of Tennessee, and has gained national recognition for the quality of our scientific research, faculty, and students. The Psychology Department has approximately 110 graduate students in three graduate programs: a basic science program in Experimental Psychology, with concentrations in Developmental, Social, and Biopsychology, and two nationally accredited, applied doctoral programs, in Clinical Psychology and in Counseling Psychology. We also have over 900 undergraduate majors in Psychology. We award almost 500 undergraduate bachelor’s degrees in Psychology annually, almost one fourth of the undergraduate degrees granted by the College of Arts and Sciences. As scholars, teachers, and learners, the faculty and students of the Psychology Department share a commitment to open intellectual inquiry, public scholarship, respectful dialogue, civic responsibility, and maintenance of a collegial, supportive environment to foster professional development and education of all in our community while advancing the science of Psychology.
