Erin Dowdy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology. She received her B.S. from Florida State University and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia. Dr. Dowdy completed her internship at the University of Southern California/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where she received specialized training in pediatric and clinical psychology. Prior to joining the faculty at UCSB, she worked as a school psychologist in a broadly diverse school district south of Los Angeles. She is both a licensed psychologist and credentialed school psychologist. As a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Dowdy conducts research in the areas of behavioral assessment and classification, specifically early identification of child behavior problems and strengths. Specifically, she investigates screening techniques and how to use results to inform and improve upon prevention and early intervention services for use in schools. She is highly invested in training the next generation of school psychology scholars and providing evidenced-based practices to diverse students.
Prior to joining the faculty at UCSB, she worked as a school psychologist in a broadly diverse school district south of Los Angeles.
