Tania Israel is a Professor in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology. She has been a member of the UCSB faculty since 2000. Dr. Israel completed her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University in 1998 where she taught Women’s Studies from 1994-1997. Her master’s degree in Human Sexuality Education and B.A. in Women’s Studies and Psychology are from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. israel was an Assistant Professor at the University of Memphis from 1998-2000. Her scholarship focuses on LGBT mental health services and community development; intersections among gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation; and social justice. Dr. Israel teaches Introduction to Applied Psychology, a requirement for the Applied Psychology track of the minor in Education and Applied Psychology, as well as graduate courses, including pedagogy in applied psychology, counseling LGBT clients, and a seminar on social justice in counseling psychology. She is affiliated faculty with the Department of Feminist Studies at UCSB. She is engaged in her professional organizations, recently as 2010-11 President of the Society of Counseling Psychology (Division 17 of the American Psychological Association) and Lead Coordinator for the 2009 National Multicultural Conference and Summit. Her campus leadership includes Chair of Undergraduate Council, 2010-12.
She has been a member of the UCSB faculty since 2000. Dr. israel was an Assistant Professor at the University of Memphis from 1998-2000.
