The University of Sunderland has a student population of more than 14,000, based on two main sites and at their London Campus, and they're a pretty happy bunch according to the latest national student survey, which ranked them as the most satisfied in the north-east. The Sir Tom Cowie campus at St Peter's is a riverside development that has seen an investment of more than £50m in recent years. City Campus has seen further development of over £75m. Sunderland is a modern coastal city, right at the heart of the vibrant north-east. The city has been the focus of regeneration and investment, and is continuing to grow and develop. Accommodation The university tries to accommodate all first-year undergraduates in halls of residence. University accommodation ranges from approximately £75 per week for a standard room, to £95 per week for an ensuite single study bedroom with river views. Facilities The Sir Tom Cowie campus was recently voted one of the top 10 student campuses in the UK. CitySpace is the university's sport and social centre and it boasts a £7.5m sciences complex - the Quad open-air entertainment space. £9m was recently invested in the university's largest on-campus teaching space, Priestman building, which houses performance and fine arts subjects, and further redevelopment of the photography studios on City campus. The University of Sunderland's National Glass Centre reopened in summer 2013 following a £2m redevelopment of the Centre's teaching and exhibition spaces Transport The metro is a light railway network with a station at the heart of City campus. Bus and road links are excellent, and rail transport to the rest of the UK is good too. London is under three hours away by train.
