A native of San Diego, California, Dr. Michelle Alexander is a full-time Lecturer and vocal coach at Boston University, where she teaches Song Literature classes as well as Italian and German Diction. She is also the Chorus Master for Boston Lyric Opera, as well as on Faculty at Boston Conservatory, where she is a member of the Opera Faculty, teaches Survey of Diction, and coaches. Dr Alexander has had the distinct pleasure and honor to perform with Frederica von Stade as a part of her farewell recital tour in Dorset, VT, as well as other recitals in the Greater New England area. Dr. Michelle Alexander has also served as the assistant chorus master/rehearsal pianist for Boston Lyric Opera. Dr. Alexander co-founded a new summer workshop/scenes program under the name The Coaching Divas with renowned mezzo-soprano Sondra Kelly in the summer of 2008 (thecoachingdivas.com). Now she and Ms. Kelly are advertising for their fourth summer of teaching audition workshops. Dr. Alexander conducted the spring production of H.M.S. Pinafore in 2001 as well as South Pacific in 2005 with Fiddlehead Theater in Norwood, MA. Dr. Alexander has been on the coaching staff of Florida Grand Opera, Minnesota Opera, Gold Coast Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera. Dr. Alexander holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, a Master’s Degree in Coaching/Accompanying from the New England Conservatory of Music, and a Doctorate in Coaching/Accompanying from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Dr. Michelle Alexander has also served as the assistant chorus master/rehearsal pianist for Boston Lyric Opera.
